The Sun Also Rises
Ernest Hemingway's The Sun Also Rises was first published in 1926. The story follows a band of disillusioned expatriates living a fast-paced, hard-drinking life in post-war France and Spain. Through Jake Barnes and Lady Brett Ashley, it takes a moving look at the disillusionment and angst of the post-World War I age. The plot follows the brilliant Brett and the naive Jake as they travel with a ragtag gang of foreigners in a time of moral decay, spiritual decline, unfulfilled love, and dissipating illusions. The novel contributed to Hemingway's reputation as one of the best authors of the twentienth century.
